Reducing skills cost with Skill Points
One of the major thing that stops doing core professions characters other than tyrians is the fact that you must buy every of your skills (especially for canthans).
Purchasing the skills you need wil cost you tons and tons of gold. => farm
At the same time you'll gain XP => gain skill points
So why not giving the choice to pay the skill we want ?
Afterall if your character got millions of XP, She/He probably have tons of unused SP too.
Something like this example :
* 1K + 1 SP
* 500g + 3 SP
* 100g + 5 SP
What do you think ?

I was chatting to a Guildie the other day about this same thing on teamspeak. We said near enough the same thing, as I was actually trying to get my skill hunter titles and it was costing me an absolute fortune.
The thing that was holding me back a lot was lack of cash and that meant "farming" ( i dont tend to farm per se, more go off and do some missions again and merch up loot up etc) I got to about 50% of what i needed for cap sigs and then fighting thru the game capping earnt me the rest of the cash i needed.
It really irks me when i wanted a particular skill for a hero and it STILL cost me a plat , it would be better if the hero skill trainers offered all the skills for heros not just a select few, which hardly go for any of the builds i wanted to run.
so yeah

Imo only signets of capturing should cost 1 Platin, because u buy them only, to hunt elite skills, not for catching normal skills from bosses -.-
but once when the signets costs 1 Platin, u must pay this platin even for stupid normal skills, that r the platin in no way worth it.
Normal Skills should stay at a cost of 250g. That would be solution 1
Solution 2:
Once the costs have reached 1 Platin, a Skil Point Tracker will start
When u have then learned more then 25 Elite Skills and the Tracker show that u have over 100 unused points, u get a Title, that will lower skill costs to 750g
Once uve learned 75 Elite Skills and uve over 150 unused points, cost wil be lowered to 500g.
When 125 elites learned and over 200 unused points, rank 3 in the title and skills/signet will cost 250g. when learned 175 elites and over 250 unused points, u earn the final rank and skills will cost no money anymore, only SP.
in this manner, players have then something to do, when they want to lower their costs and its then like a bonus for hunting Elites and collecting more SP over time.
Ranks:
1: Too poor for Skills
2: Tightwad
3: Too poor for this World
4: Dagobert Duck *g*

Good idea
But I think it should be lowered to your primary profession only:
25% of Primary Profession total Elite Skills => 10% of normal skills cost
50% of Primary Profession total Elite Skills => 20% of normal skills cost
75% of Primary Profession total Elite Skills => 30% of normal skills cost
100% of Primary Profession total Elite Skills => 40% of normal skills cost
total Elite Skills could be per campains or Total
I also think Cap Sig should stay @1k as it's an Elite stuff, but maybe there could come my initial idea and its cost could be reduced by using x Skill Point at a time.
Let's now hope Annette will read this post

It makes sense to reduce the price since they reduced the overall ingame money.

Its only 1k of gold a skill and to be honest thats dirt cheap already. It only takes like 15 minutes of farming minotaurs in HM outside of icetooth to get that much money so i for one am against this. I think skills should cost more if anything not less, might cause for some more interesting builds to be made cause the people need too (then again it might stop people from trying anything other than the most basic coookie cutters which i fear is much more likely)

Hmmm, this is a big issue for people that hoard skills, i.e. Skill/Title Hunters. Lowering the cost based on how many skills you own would be logical. You cant make it too low too fast because everyone will have all skills too early.
How about lowering the price based on how many skills you own compared to how many skills can be obtained?
Lets say the game had 100 skills total. You owned 25, the total cost of skills would be lowered by 25%, now costing 750g instead of the full platinum.
There are 1135 normal skills, 290 elite skills and 24 normal and 1 elite PvE only skills. Making a total of 1450
I have about 300 skills per character so buying a skill for them would be about 20-23% cheaper. A player that is trying to get all the skills in the game this will make things a LOT easier and cheaper.

i agree. again, isn't the whole reason loot nerfing was implemented so that people wouldn't need as much money to buy things? we already have someone advocating farming already...

Oh my god.
Yes.
Yes PLEASE. I have so many skill points but not a lot of spare gold. I'll happily give up 5 or ten points per skill to knock a few hundred g off the costs. I like some of the other suggestions too, such as a certain amount of elites knocking a percentage off the cost.
